How to convert a web page to PDF.

Take a website with you — even without internet access. Learn how to convert web pages to PDFs with this tutorial.
The easiest way to show off a web page is to access it with a browser, but that’s not always possible. You might be attending a meeting at a location with no internet access or want to highlight parts of the website functionality with comments or notes for your fellow developers.
Good news — you can convert a web page to PDF . Even better news is that doing the conversion is easy. And once you have a PDF copy, you can add comments and edit text to experiment with proposed revisions and promote collaboration on improved content. You don’t need to know a single line of HTML code. Learn how to save any web page as a PDF simply using Adobe Acrobat.

Convert an open web page from your browser to a PDF.
The fastest way to convert an open web page to PDF is to use the Adobe PDF toolbar. If you have the toolbar installed in your browser, follow these steps:
- Open an HTML web page in Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Firefox if you’re in Windows. On a Mac, open the web page in Firefox.
- Select the Convert to PDF tool.
- Give your new PDF file a name.
- Select Save and choose the location for your file.
And voila — the conversion is done. You can open the file in a PDF viewer and make edits with your Adobe Acrobat software or with Adobe Acrobat online services.
Turn a web page into a PDF.
If you’d like more functionality and options, do the conversion in Acrobat. Simply follow these five steps:
- Start the Create PDF tool in the Tools view.
- Select Web Page as the conversion type.
- Paste in the web page URL or select browse to manually locate an HTML file.
- Set your conversion preferences.
- Select Create to save your PDF.
How to save a web page as a PDF without cutting it off.
If you do not have the toolbar extension or Acrobat Pro software, a simple alternative is to save a web page as a PDF. In your internet browser, click File > Print > Save as PDF.
Typically, a PDF will preserve the content in a web page better than a direct printout, but you might still have issues with formatting or mysteriously missing text when you try to print a web page or save it as a PDF. To avoid this problem, click Print Preview in the browser menu. Change the view to landscape or vertical to find out which view is optimal. Landscape will likely include all the text you need.
Polish your converted PDF.
The converted PDF will function like the original website, with all the links, images, and graphics. However, since it is a PDF, you can use Acrobat to add comments, text, and notes, and edit your PDF in many more ways.
With Adobe Acrobat, you can find all the tools you need in one place to share and create PDFs . You can trust that you’ll get optimal formatting with intuitive, easy-to-use tools. Discover everything that you can do with Acrobat today, whether you need to convert Excel documents to PDFs, compress PDF documents , rearrange pages , and more.

Web pages and PDFs
The core of a web page is a file written in Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). Typically, the HTML file includes associations with other files that either appear on the web page or govern how it looks or works.
When you convert a web page to PDF, the HTML file and all associated files—such as JPEG images, Adobe FLA files, cascading style sheets, text files, image maps, and forms—are included in the conversion process.
The resulting PDF behaves much like the original web page. For example, the images, links, image maps, and most media files appear and function normally within the PDF. (Animated GIF files appear as still images, showing the last frame of the animation.)
Also, the PDF functions like any other PDF. For example, you can navigate through the file by scrolling or using bookmarks; users can add comments to it; you can add security, form fields, and other features that enhance it.
In preparing to convert web pages to PDF, consider the following factors, which affect how you approach the conversion process:
How much do you want to convert?
If you want to convert only selected areas of the currently open web page, use PDFMaker from within Internet Explorer . If you want to convert several levels or all of a multipage website to PDF, work within Acrobat.
Do you want to create a new PDF from the web pages or to append the converted pages to an existing PDF?
You can do both in either Acrobat or Internet Explorer , but you choose different buttons or commands to accomplish these things.
To convert Chinese, Japanese, and Korean (CJK) language web pages to PDF on a Roman (Western) system in Windows, you must have installed the CJK language support files while installing Acrobat. Also, it is preferable to select an appropriate encoding from the HTML conversion settings.
Convert web pages to PDF in Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Firefox (Windows)
Acrobat installs an Adobe PDF toolbar in Internet Explorer (version 8.0 or later), Google Chrome, and Firefox. Using the commands on this toolbar, you can convert the currently displayed web page to PDF in various ways. For example, you can convert the entire web page or selected areas of it. Or, you can create a PDF or append the converted web page to an existing PDF. The toolbar has additional commands that initiate further actions after conversion, such as attaching the new PDF to a new email message or printing it.

Convert a web page to PDF
To convert a webpage to PDF, do the following:
For Windows, use Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome.
For Mac, use Firefox.
To create a PDF from the currently open web page, choose Convert Web Page To PDF . Then select a location, type a filename, and click Save .
To add a PDF of the currently open web page to another PDF, choose Add Web Page To Existing PDF . Then locate and select the existing PDF, and click Save .
(Internet Explorer and Firefox only) To create and print a PDF from the currently open web page, choose Print Web Page . When the conversion is complete and the Print dialog box opens, specify options and click OK .
(Internet Explorer and Firefox only) To create a PDF from the currently open web page and attach it to a blank email message, choose Convert Web Page And Email . Then specify a location and filename for the PDF, and click Save . Type the appropriate information in the email message that opens after the conversion is complete.
For any of these options, to open the output PDF after conversion, select View Adobe PDF Results .
The Adobe Create PDF icon gets added to the supported browsers when you install Acrobat. If you’re unable to see the Create PDF icon, do the following:
In Internet Explorer, choose View > Toolbars > Adobe Acrobat Create PDF Toolbar .
In Firefox, choose Tools > Add-ons > Extensions , and then enable the Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF extension. (For more information, see Enable Create PDF extension for Mozilla Firefox .)
In Google Chrome, choose Customize menu > Settings and then click Extensions from the left pane. Enable the Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF extension. (For more information, see Enable Create PDF extension for Google Chrome .)
Convert part of a web page to PDF (Internet Explorer and Firefox)
- Drag the pointer to select text and images on a web page.
To create a new PDF, choose Convert To Adobe PDF or Convert Web Page To Adobe PDF (Internet Explorer) or Convert Selection to Adobe PDF (Firefox). Then select a name and location for the PDF.
To append the selected content to another PDF, choose Append To Existing PDF (Internet Explorer) or Append Selection to Existing PDF (Firefox). Then locate and select the PDF to which the selection will be added.
Convert selected areas in a web page to PDF (Internet Explorer only)
You can use the Select option to select specific areas on a web page to convert. You can use this option to convert meaningful content on a web page and omit unwanted content, such as advertisements.
On the Adobe PDF toolbar, click Select (next to Convert).
- As you move the pointer around the web page, a red dotted line indicates areas of the web page that you can select. Click the areas to convert. Selected areas appear in blue boxes. To deselect an area, click it again.
- Proceed with conversion as usual.
To deselect all areas and exit the select mode, click Select again.
Convert a linked web page to PDF
To add the linked web page to an existing PDF, choose Append Link Target To Existing PDF . Then locate and select the existing PDF, and click Save .
To convert the linked web page to a new PDF, choose Convert Link Target To Adobe PDF .
The right-click menu also includes the options Append To Existing PDF and Convert To Adobe PDF . If you select either of these options, the currently open web page, not the selected link, is converted.
Convert web pages to PDF in Acrobat
Although you can convert an open web page to PDF from Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Firefox, you get additional options when you run the conversion from Acrobat. For example, you can include an entire website in the PDF or just some levels of a website.
Open Acrobat and choose Tools > Create PDF > Web Page .
Enter the complete path to the web page, or click Browse and locate an HTML file.
To change the number of levels in the website to convert, click Capture Multiple Levels . Enter the number of levels to include, or select Get Entire Site to include all levels from the website.
Some websites have hundreds or even thousands of pages. Converting a large website can make your system slow and unresponsive, and can even use up available hard drive space and memory, causing a system crash. It’s a good idea to begin by downloading one level of pages and then go through them to find particular links to download.
Stay On Same Path
Downloads only web pages subordinate to the specified URL.
Stay On Same Server
Downloads only web pages stored on the same server.
Click Settings/Advanced Settings , change the selected options in the Web Page Conversion Settings dialog box as needed, and click OK .
Click Create .
You can view PDF pages while they are downloading; however, you cannot modify a page until the download process is complete.
You do not need to wait for the conversion to complete before adding more requests. While a conversion is in progress, you can convert another page to PDF and that gets added to the queue. The number of requests in the queue are indicated by the Pending Conversions field in the Download Status dialog box.
Add an unlinked web page to an existing PDF
Use this procedure to append pages to a writable PDF. If the original PDF is read-only, the result will be a new PDF rather than new pages in the existing PDF.
- Open the existing PDF in Acrobat (the PDF to which you want to append a web page).
Choose Tools > Organize Pages > Insert > Insert from Web Page .
Enter the URL to the web page you want to append and select options, as described for converting web pages to PDF, and then click Add .
Once the web page is converted to PDF, you see the Insert Page dialog box. Choose exactly where you want to add this page in the existing PDF, and then click OK .
Add a linked web page to an existing PDF
- Open the previously converted PDF in Acrobat. If necessary, scroll to the page containing links to the pages you want to add.
Right-click the web link, and choose Append To Document .
After pages have been converted, links to these pages change to internal links, and clicking a link takes you to the PDF page, rather than to the original HTML page on the web.
Convert a linked web page to a new PDF
- Open the previously converted PDF in Acrobat. If necessary, scroll to the page containing a web link you want to convert.
Right-click the web link, and choose Open Weblink As New Document .
In Windows , you can also convert a linked page from a web page displayed in Internet Explorer , Google Chrome, or Firefox, using a similar right-click command.
Copy the URL of a web link
Use this procedure to copy the path for a web link to the clipboard, to use it for other purposes.
- Open the previously converted PDF in Acrobat. If necessary, scroll to the page containing links to the pages you want to copy.
Right-click the web link and choose Copy Link Location .
Change web page conversion options
The settings for converting web pages to PDF apply to the conversion process. The settings changes do not affect existing PDFs.
- From Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Firefox, in the Adobe PDF toolbar, choose Convert > Preferences .
- From Acrobat, choose File > Create > PDF from Web Page , and then click Settings .
- From Acrobat, choose Tools > Create PDF > Web Page , and then click Advanced Settings .
On the General tab, select options under Conversion Settings and PDF Settings, as needed. Click the Settings button to see additional options for the selected File Type.
- On the Page Layout tab, select options for page size, orientation, and scaling, as needed.

Everyone eventually comes across a webpage they need to save for offline research or sharing with others. You could just copy and paste the link, but sometimes it’s nice to have the page as an image you can view offline, mark up, or print. For most browsers, the Print function is the fastest and most effective way to save a webpage to PDF. We know choosing Save Page As … would be the logical choice, but that option is for saving pages in a web format, not as a contained file like a PDF. The Print option is the tool you need.

The toolbar works on Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox and could be more convenient if you regularly use Adobe tools.

Step 6: Give your file a name by scrolling to the bottom of the following screen and then clicking Save . You also have the opportunity to save your location simply by pressing the three horizontal lines (you’ll see these on the top left of your screen). You can select from a variety of options, including the Downloads folder, somewhere else in your device’s storage, or in your Google Drive.
You’re also able to save PDFs directly from Chrome if you’re using an iOS device; however, the instructions are slightly different.
Step 1: Tap on the Share icon (you can find this in the top-right corner of your screen) and scroll down a bit until you see the Print option. Select it.
Step 2: From the Print menu, use both of your fingers to make a pinching motion that will allow you to zoom in and get a closer view. Doing this will cause the page to automatically transform into a full-screen PDF that you can examine.
Step 3: On the top-right of the screen, select the Share icon again, then pick Save to Files . You can then enter the name you want to call your file, and that’s it – now you have a PDF of your webpage. Keep in mind that you can also implement this process on Firefox for iOS.
It’s a good idea to download the Convert Web to PDF app , which lets you quickly convert to PDF and contains an impressive assortment of editing tools. This app gives you the option of converting only the text or background. You can also define a table of contents or quality levels if you prefer.

Windows 11 is great -- it's worth upgrading to from Windows 10. But as with every version of Windows, it's at its best when you make some tweaks to it. Beyond making Windows 11 look like Windows 10, or customizing the Windows 11 taskbar, there are a few changes anyone can make to Windows 11, and they're changes that everyone should make. In my humble opinion, at least.
So, if you're looking for an upgraded, augmented, and altogether better Windows 11 experience, here are the top five changes you should make to it right now. While Windows 11 does collect more data on you than previous versions, you can disable some of it, and restrict the way the operating system automatically personalizes your experience.

If you need to save a web page to view later while you're offline, or want to have a copy of it that you can easily share with others or send to a printer, converting it to a PDF file can make things much easier. Chrome and Safari come with built-in tools to create PDF files, but you'll need extra software if you use Firefox or Internet Explorer. Adobe Acrobat offers the most comprehensive web page capturing options if you have access to it.

- This method will only print the current page you are viewing, and will not preserve links to other pages on the site. If you want to save an entire site as a PDF file, or want to ensure that every elements stays in the right place, see Method 4.

- Click the "Layout" drop-down menu to choose between Portrait or Landscape orientation.
- Uncheck "Headers and footers" if you don't want the date, page title, and address added to the top and bottom of the PDF pages.
- Check the "Background graphics" box to display any background images.

- You'll only be creating a PDF of the web page you are currently visiting. If you want to make a PDF of a full web-page, or need to include all of the elements, see Method 4. [2] X Research source

- Go to cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/writer.asp and click "Free Download" and "Free Converter". This will download the two programs required to install.
- This method will only create a PDF from the page you are currently viewing. If you need to save an entire website, including any other linked pages, see Method 4.

- In Firefox, you'll need to click the Print... button in the Print Preview window.

- Level 1 is only the page that opens when the address is visited. Level 2 includes every page that is linked on the starting page. Level 3 includes all of the pages that are linked in the Level 2 pages. This can lead to a massive file depending on the website.

The process to save and share webpages is relatively straightforward in this day and age. You can bookmark them on your favorite web browser for ease of access or share the URL to view the web page.
However, there will be times where you will not have internet access. Furthermore, you might want to save the webpage in a format that allows you to annotate them with ease—in PDF format.
And thus, this guide will outline the many ways that you can convert web pages to PDF via the most popular web browsers out there.

Alternatively, press Ctrl + P (Windows) or Cmd + P (Mac)
Under the ‘Destination’ section, click Change... > Save as PDF
